Back from a 3 day road trip my wife told me refrigerator stopped cooling and freezing.
I unplugged, checked for dust/dirt. Plugged it back in, it started cooling some and freezer would freeze a glass of water, but a package of ice cream was not solid. It NOW will NOT freeze water
Is there a guarantee that this can be repaired? Is there a service call fee? Can u estimate cost?
Thanks for the thorough information. Based on your description it sounds like you have a sealed system issue. It could be as easy as replacing start relay to worse a restriction or system leak. Hard to say without testing.
Lastly, it can be repaired but at considerable cost but there really is no guarantee of success based on age. In addition, if the compressor is bad and it has heated up for a long period of time, it may have contaminated/created acids in systems. This would create further problems in time. I WOULD NOT REPAIR based on age.
